Brookville Warns Businesses After Robberies

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 – updated: 7:57 pm EDT August 19, 2008

One man may be robbing stores and banks across the Alleghenies.

According to police, the man is in his 30s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds with grayish-brown hair.

The latest in this string of robberies was August 11 at a Curwensville bank.

Although there haven't been any robberies in Brookville, police are taking steps to make sure business owners stay alert.

"If you see anything at all, just trigger your alarm," said Brookville Borough police Chief Ken Dworek.

Dworek added that the person behind these robberies is probably local and lives in central Pennsylvania.

Several business owners in downtown Brookville said they've already taken precautions.

"We don't keep large payments here at the store," said Tammy Wolfgang.
