Brookville Street Department Over Budget

Friday, March 21, 2008 – updated: 8:57 pm EDT March 21, 2008

Snow and ice over this past winter has hit the Brookville street department hard.

City officials said the department is thousands of dollars over budget, thanks to the winter weather.

Overtime has pushed the budget about $3,000 over budget, while extra supplies put the budget over about $13,000.

According to city officials, the winter was one of the worst in the last 20 years.

Residents said the street department has done a great job cleaning the borough's roads.

"We have a lot of hills here in town," said Teresa Kuntz. "They really do a good job."

With spring weather around the corner, the street department has moved on to patching potholes on borough streets.
