Williamsport had 18 hits, including nine doubles, leading to an easy 13-3 victory against the State College Spikes Sunday night at Medlar Field despite a one-hour rain delay prior to the game.

Leading the way for Williamsport was catcher Travis d'Arnaud.  The catcher had three doubles and drove in four runs against the Spikes.

The Crosscutters jumped out to an early lead in the first inning and then scored five runs in the third inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead.

State College scored a run in the third inning with a leadoff double by Kyle Morgan and a one-out single by Chad Rice to narrow the gap to five runs.

The Crosscutters continued to score runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to take a 13-1 lead.  The Spikes tired to rally back with two runs in the eighth inning.  Ciro Rosero drove in a run with a bases-loaded single and Butch Biela drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 13-3.

This was the third straight loss for the Spikes.

Tonight the spikes take on the Crosscutters at Bowman Field in Williamsport.  Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
