State College Area High School will face Carlisle on Monday night to make up for Friday evening's postponed game due to COVID concerns. A reminder that nothing is to be taken for granted these days, and if anything, a stern warning for Penn State and the rest of the Big Ten just a week removed from opening its season, that something can start well, but that doesn't mean it will go well.

Of course Friday's false alarm was -in the long run- a good thing, but nevertheless a moment that Little Lions' head coach Matt Lintal and Penn State coach James Franklin hope is not foreshadowing for things to come with football in Happy Valley.

Bellefonte 17 Bald Eagle Area 7

With 34 seconds to go in the first half Bellefonte ran one of the plays of the high school football season, turning a reverse into a flea-flicker and hitting a 56-yard pass and score to turn the game on its head and five the Red Raiders a 10-0 halftime lead. Bald Eagle Area would trail 17-0 late in the third quarter before mounting a late comeback attempt, getting on the board with just over five minutes to go but the comeback would come up short.

The win marks Bellefonte's seventh-straight in the Curtin Bowl between the two rivals.

Tyrone 35 Philipsburg-Oseola 27

Easily one of the most entertaining games of the night in the region, this had a little bit of everything including an 85-yard kickoff return after a 1-yard touchdown run to tie things at 7-7 all. The Golden Eagles would go ahead with 17 seconds left in the first half but the haymakers continued to land in the second half with teams scoring from 38, 64 and 24 yards out in a made-for-TV second half. Tyrone quarterback Brandon Lucas managed four touchdowns on the night en route to the victory.

Central 42 Penns Valley 13

Penns Valley returned a fumble for a touchdown to open the second half, giving an eventual blowout final more competition than meets the eye as PV trailed 14-7 early in the second half. From there two quick scores by Central in the final seven minutes of the third quarter turned things into a blowout and a PV touchdown with just over three minutes to play was far more a moral victory than anything else.
