Centre County Association of REALTORS®, Young Lawyers and Builders Association Team Up for Annual Food Drive, Donate Over 800 Pounds

State College, PA - June 23, 2009 - The Centre County Association of REALTORS® (CCAR) announces the results of its annual Food Drive to benefit the State College Area Food Bank.
The drive, which began in March, culminated at the CCAR membership meeting held in April and at Builder’s Association Meetings held in May. CCAR Co-Chairs for the event, Sally Lenker, Mortgage Placement Services Inc. and Della Smith, Nittany Settlement Company, report that members from CCAR, The Young Lawyers’ Division of the Centre County Bar Association (YLD) and The Builder’s Association of Central Pennsylvania (BACP) donated food, cash and cash cards totaling $1,335, including over 800 pounds of goods. A number of REALTOR® offices in State College served as drop locations for public donations, including:

Chairperson of the YLD Kara Bowser, Goodall & Yurchak, P.C., reported that food was collected at a variety of locations in State College and Bellefonte, including:
Centre County Courthouse - Bellefonte
Goodall & Yurchak - 328 South Atherton Street
Engle & Engle - 432 Rolling Ridge Drive
Mazza Law Group - 3081 Enterprise Drive
MidPenn Legal Services - 2054 E. College Avenue
Cori Donaghy, Executive Officer of The Builder’s Association collected Food Drive donations at 2038 Sandy Drive in State College and at several member meetings held during the collection period.
The State College Area Food Bank thanked the groups for their help, noting that they are especially in need of donations now due to high energy prices, housing costs, and health care expenses. In addition, they encourage donations throughout the year and suggest that those who wish to donate check the Food Bank Needs List at http://foodbank.centreconnect.org for the most current list of items needed.
Linda Tataliba, Executive Director of the State College Area Food Bank, extended her gratitude at the CCAR Membership meeting in April and noted that the Food Bank’s mission is to provide emergency food to needy people in the State College Area and to assist the network of food pantries throughout Centre County.
Commenting on this annual event, 2009 CCAR Food Drive Co-Chairs Sally and Della said, “We thank all who participated in this year’s drive. We are fortunate to be able to reach out to those in our area who need help with food and household, baby and personal hygiene items.”
