on February 02, 2018 11:05 AM

Penn State and former defensive coordinator Bob Shoop have settled their lawsuit out of court the university announced on Friday morning.

"Both Coach Shoop and Penn State are pleased to bring this matter to an amicable resolution," a statement from Penn State reads.

"Coach Shoop wishes continued success for the Penn State football program and remains grateful for the support he received from the coaching staff, support staff and the fans while he was at Penn State. Penn State recognizes that Coach Shoop was an integral part of the coaching staff during his tenure at Penn State and wishes him the best in his future endeavors."

Previously, Penn State claimed Shoop owed it $891,856. The university contended that Shoop had breached his contract having resigned before it expired on Feb. 15, 2018. The value was worth 50-percent of Shoop's base pay multiplied by the two remaining years on his contract.

Shoop had countersued Penn State claiming he left the Nittany Lions because of "intolerable" working conditions and the university breached his contract. Shoop claimed to have experienced "a hostile, negative work environment."

In turn, Shoop had sought monetary damages contending he had compelled to leave.
