Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Land Another Four-Star Commit For 2022 Class

on September 08, 2020 4:30 PM

The run of four-star commitments continued for Penn State football as linebacker Ken Talley out of Philadelphia verbally committed on Tuesday afternoon. Talley announced his decision on Twitter.

Talley is a notable addition to Penn State's six-man recruiting class for 2022 as he is the first defensive player to tab the Nittany Lions in that cycle. He joins four-star offensive tackle Drew Shelton as the second commitment in September to a Nittany Lion class that is rated the third best in the nation by the 247 Network.

Generally speaking the 2022 recruiting cycle is still in its early stages.

Coming in on the scales at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds, Shelton is rated the fourth best player in the state for the 2022 class by the 247 Network's composite rankings, picking up various offers from schools like Arizona State, Florida and Cincinnati.

Talley is good bit of news on Tuesday afternoon in particular as the Nittany Lions are, according to recruiting experts, expected to lose out on offensive tackle Nolan Rucci later Tuesday evening to Wisconsin. Rucci is rated the top prospect in the state for the 2021 class.

The top three prospects in the state remain uncommitted for the 2022 class with Penn State in the running for highly-touted defensive end and Philadelphia native Enai White. White is ranked the fifth best prospect in the nation for the 2022 class according to the 247 Network and the top prospect in the Keystone State.
