on October 31, 2017 7:15 PM

Penn State is No.7 in the first edition for the College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday night. The Nittany Lions come in just one spot behind Ohio State, the highest ranked Big Ten team.

The rankings are rounded out by Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson in the Top 4. Penn State will face No. 24 Michigan State this weekend and No. 9 Wisconsin if both teams made it to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Title game.

For the immediate future Penn State will be on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs, the Nittany Lions hoping for losses ahead of them and will have to go for impressive blowout wins in the future. Penn State is set to face Michigan State, Rutgers, Nebraska and Maryland in the final four weeks of the season.
