Penn State Football: Five Former Nittany Lions Sign Undrafted Free Agent Deals

Five former Nittany Lions have signed undrafted free agent contracts and one has earned a rookie mini-camp invitation.

In addition to the six players selected during the 2019 NFL Draft, a total of 12 Nittany Lions' from Penn State's 2018 team now face NFL opportunities.

The undrafted free agent signees include offensive lineman Ryan Bates and wiide receiver DeAndre Thompkins who both signed deals with the Philadelphia Eagles as the Eagles began rookie mini-camp on Friday.

They join teammates Miles Sanders and Shareef Miller, who were both selected during the draft.

Linebacker Koa Farmer joined the Oakland Raiders and former teammates Jason Cabinda and Saeed Blacknall. Additionally, defensive tackle Kevin Givens signed with the San Francisco 49ers and long snapper Kyle Vasey signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Finally, running back Johnathan Thomas was invited to the Cincinnati Bengals rookie mini-camp.

The six Penn Staters to hear their name called during the 2019 NFL Draft were: running back Miles Sanders, who was the No. 53 overall selection by the Philadelphia Eagles, offensive lineman Connor McGovern who was the 90th overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive end Shareef Miller who chosen in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles, while cornerback Amani Oruwariye was picked in the fifth round by the Detroit Lions. Last but not least, quarterback Trace McSorley was selected in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens and safety Nick Scott was a seventh-round pick for the Los Angeles Rams.
