Hockey team advances furthest in its history The Penn State Altoona Ice Hockey Team traveled to Pittsburgh this past weekend to compete in the College Hockey East Finals. The team competed against California University of Pennsylvania in a best-of-three game series beginning Friday night. Although the Lions fell to Cal U, this was the furthest they advanced in the history of the program. The Lions (15-10) lost to Cal U, last year's champs, in two games (6-5 and 5-2). The championship capped off a dominating season for California as the team finished 25-1.
