A Logan Township man has been charged with shooting his neighbor’s dog.
62-year-old Kenneth Dwayne Brantner is facing three misdemeanor
charges, including cruelty to animals, recklessly endangering another
person and disorderly conduct in connection with the June 6th shooting.
Police responded to Denny McConnell’s Weaver Avenue home after Brantner
shot his 21-month-old Rottweiler named Emmet. The dog survived, but
veterinarians at Metzgar Animal Hospital in State College were unable
to save one of Emmet’s front legs.
Brantner had told police that Emmet was getting ready to attack him.
But according to forensics and the locations of the wounds, the dog was
shot from behind. Police also say Brantner’s story didn’t add up. He
admitted to being afraid of dogs and says he shot at other dogs a few
years back.
Brantner faces a preliminary hearing July 16th. Chris Forshey
