Lonestar To Perform At Blair County  Ballpark

Article by: Missy Criswell

The 2007 Curve Concert Series continues with a performance by country band, Lonestar on Sunday, September 23rd at Blair County Ballpark.  Gates to the ballpark will open at 5:00 p.m. with Lonestar taking to the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are still available for the concert.  Field-level admission tickets are $32 and reserved seating tickets are $22.  Tickets can be purchased online at the Altoona Curve’s website or by calling 877-99-CURVE.  For each ticket sold, $1 will be donated to Operation Our Town.  Operation Our Town is a local partnership between community leaders and local businesses to fight drugs and violent crime in order to “take back our neighborhoods.”

Lonestar was formed in 1992 by a group of country musicians from Texas.  Lonestar’s self-titled debut album gave Lonestar a Top 10 hit with “Tequilla Talkin” in 1995.  Their next single, “No News”, was released in 1996 and landed at the top of the country music charts.  Lonestar’s second album, “Crazy Nights” gave the band another Number One hit single with “Come Cryin’ To Me.”

In 1999, Lonestar’s release of the crossover ballad “Amazed” made the band a household name.  The song spent eight weeks at the top of the country music charts and also landed at Number One on the Billboad Hot 100 Chart.  “Amazed” remains one of the band’s most popular songs and can be heard at many wedding receptions.

Lonestar released a greatest hits album in 2006 and their latest album, “Mountains” was released in the fall of 2006.

After performing together for 15 years, this will be one of the last concerts with lead singer Richie McDonald.  McDonald will be leaving the band to embark on a career as a solo artist.  Cody Collins will replace McDonald as lead singer and Collins will be featured on the bands upcoming album scheduled for release this winter.

Opening for Lonestar will be Huntingdon County native Chris Woodward.  A local country musician, Woodward will perform at 6:00 p.m.  Over the past several years, Woodward has opened for such musicians as Toby Keith, Jo Dee Messina, Diamond Rio, Montgomery Gentry, and several other country artists.

The concert will be held rain or shine.

For more information on the concert, visit the Curve’s website at www.altoonacurve.com.
