In the spirit of goodwill and holiday fun, the Hollidaysburg Area Women's Club is extending the deadline for entries into their Gingerbread House Contest to Saturday, December 12th. There is no entry fee for the contest. Any participants who have registered and paid an entry fee will receive a full refund. All entries will be displayed in the shop windows along Allegheny Street in Hollidaysburg.

Entry forms are available at the YMCA and Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, or email Kathy Mueller, Arts Committee Chairperson at Kat1437@msn.com or call 814-934-1245. Prizes will be awarded in the following three categories: Youth/Beginner; Intermediate/Advanced; and Aspiring Professional/Professional. The public is encouraged to visit the marked locations on Allegheny Street in Hollidaysburg to vote for their favorite entry. Winners will be announced on December 23rd. HAWC is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs and GFWC Pennsylvania.

Sheetz in teaming up with The Respiratory Disease Society to present the 2009 Cheerleading Tournament, Sunday November 1st, and Tuesday November 3rd, at the Altoona Field House.

Some schools represented this year are: Blacklick Elementary, Conemaugh Valley Elementary, St. Rose of Lima, Bishop Guilfoyle Junior High, Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Portage High School, and Central High School. Hosting the event will be the Altoona High School Cheerleaders. Cheer Factor will also perform both All-Star and Hip-Hop from minis to seniors.

Competition will begin at 2pm on Sunday November 1st and 7pm on Tuesday November 3rd.

Proceeds from this event will benefit various programs, including Cribs for Kids and Asthma related programs offered by the Respiratory Disease Society.

Please join us at Hoss's in Duncansville for dinner at 6:00. D.A. Rich Consiglio will be our guest speaker.
