The Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club is sponsoring their first annual Gingerbread House Contest and is looking for contestants throughout Blair County. The goal of the contest is to generate a spirit of fun and holiday inspiration with a friendly competition of creativity.
Entries will be accepted until November 20th and will be displayed in the shop windows of merchants located on Allegheny Street, Hollidaysburg. Prizes will be awarded in the following three categories: Youth/Beginner; Intermediate/Advanced; and Aspiring Professional/Professional. There is an entry fee of $15 per entry. Entries will be displayed for voting purposes until the winner is announced on December 23rd.
Entry forms are available at the YMCA, Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, Jack’s Capitol Hotel, or email Kathy Mueller, Arts Committee Chairperson at Kat1437@msn.com or call 814-934-1245. All proceeds will benefit the Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club’s grant and scholarship programs. HAWC is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and GFWC Pennsylvania.

JB Tree Farm opens September 18 for their annual fall harvest activities. These activities will run Mid September, through October and early November.
The tree farm will honor volunteer firemen with a maze design of a firetruck and a burning building. Some of the maze proceeds will benefit area Volunteer fire companies and card holding volunteer firemen will receive a pass to attend the hayride and maze.
Activities available at JB Tree Farm are a challenging corn maze, hayrides, harvest playground, fall decorations, pumpkins, parties, educational tours, and wholesome family fun. Visit God's Creation and make family memories. School groups are welcome! Call for more information.

This all day event will take you to locations not normally available to the public. You will also have a guided tour of the battlefield with a licensed guide and a private tour from Mark Nesbitt’s Ghosts of Gettysburg Candlelight Walking Tours. November 7th. Only $99 per person.

The Home Depot's Kids Workshops offer useful projects including the creation of toolboxes, fire trucks and mail organizers, as well as more educational projects, such as a window birdhouse, bughouse or Declaration of Independence frame kit.
This month's project is a TRIVET
The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.
In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.
